Encircled by nearly two miles of ramparts and crowned with fifty-two towers, the fortified city of Carcassonne rises dramatically above the plain. This UNESCO World Heritage site is a gateway into the world of the Cathars and the profound spiritual energy that shaped this region. Wander the quiet, stone pathways, listen to the bells of ancient churches, and immerse yourself fully in the landscape.

At 5:30 p.m., gather with Dana in a peaceful area of the hotel lobby for a welcome and logistics meeting. Afterward, enjoy a welcome dinner at the hotel.

With our local guide, discover the historic fortress city of Carcassonne and its connection to the Cathar story. The Cathars (or "pure ones") were a medieval Gnostic movement that flourished in the Languedoc region during the 12th and 13th centuries and rejected many aspects of the Christian religion. They were both admired and feared for their simple life of spiritual purity, personal transformation, nonviolence, and direct communion with the Divine.

The Cathars' beliefs threatened the authorities of that time, resulting in the Albigensian Crusade and the persecution of Cathar communities throughout southern France. Explore this turbulent yet fascinating period as you walk Carcassonne's cobblestone streets, admiring the watchtowers and ramparts with panoramic views of the surrounding countryside.

Travel next through the picturesque Corbières region to the enchanting medieval village of Lagrasse, one of France's "Most Beautiful Villages," with its historic abbey and bridge spanning the Orbieu River. Enjoy lunch at a local restaurant before continuing to a winery and tasting in the Corbières vineyards, which have produced exceptional wines since Roman times. Dinner is at your leisure in the illuminated medieval city.

Travel through the mystical Pyrenees foothills to see one of the most powerful relics of Cathar history: Château de Montségur. Rising dramatically above the valley on a limestone peak, Montségur has become an enduring symbol of spiritual resilience. The mountain itself became the final refuge of Cathar believers during the Albigensian Crusade. Its windswept summit, sweeping views, and profound silence leave a lasting impression.

Have lunch in the historic mountain village before continuing to the Grotte de Bethléhem near Ornolac-Ussat-les-Bains. This naturally fortified cave (or spoulga, from Old Occitan), thought to be an initiation chamber, served as a refuge for the Cathars after the fall of Montségur.

The journey from darkness to light — symbolized by the cave — is a predominant theme for the Cathars as well as the Essenes and many other mystical traditions. By evening, arrive in the peaceful riverside town of Couiza for dinner at Château des Ducs de Joyeuse, a beautifully restored Renaissance castle.

Perched high on a narrow limestone ridge overlooking the Corbières mountains, Quéribus appears suspended between heaven and earth. One of the last Cathar strongholds to fall during the Albigensian Crusade, it has become a powerful symbol of the Cathar quest for spiritual freedom.

Continue to the charming village of Cucugnan, nestled among vineyards and rolling hills, for lunch. This afternoon, travel to the spectacular Gorges de Galamus, a dramatic canyon carved by the Agly River through ancient limestone cliffs. It is believed that Mary Magdalene lived and taught here. Visit the Hermitage of Saint-Antoine, a small sanctuary built into the cliffs. Return to Couiza for dinner.

For spiritual seekers, Bugarach is a place of deep connection to the earth and a liminal realm where dimensions overlap. Explore the area around Mount Cardou, often called Mary Magdalene's Mountain, associated with buried Cathar treasures and the Holy Grail mysteries of Rennes-le-Château.

Enjoy a picnic lunch in the countryside before continuing to Rennes-les-Bains, a scenic spa village known since Roman times for its healing mineral springs. Take your turn sitting in the fabled Seat of Isis and Seat of Osiris, and visit the Fontaine des Amours, where Magdalene is said to have healed and baptized villagers. Soak in the thermal waters, absorbing the restorative gifts of the earth.

Visit Alet-les-Bains, a beautiful medieval village situated along the Aude River and known since antiquity for its mineral springs, offering healing, purification, and spiritual renewal.

Saint-André church houses the Black Madonna of Alet-les-Bains, while esoteric symbols, including Templar crosses, are carved into well-preserved half-timbered houses. Perched high above the Aude valley, it became internationally known through legends surrounding the enigmatic priest Bérenger Saunière and the mysterious renovations he carried out at the village church in the late 19th century.

Local legends claim that Mary Magdalene once lived here as a keeper of higher wisdom, healing, and the divine feminine. Some say Rennes-le-Château was not only the epicenter of a hidden bloodline originating with Yeshua and Magdalene but also Magdalene's final resting place. Saunière filled the Church of Saint Mary Magdalene with esoteric codes and symbols, and legends suggest her remains were secretly moved into a hidden crypt beneath the church.

Have lunch at the on-site restaurant, then leave for the Mediterranean coast and the scenic village of Saintes-Maries-de-la-Mer, where Provençal tradition holds that Magdalene and her companions landed in 42 CE on a small boat without sails or oars. Following lunch, participate in a workshop with Dana delving deeper into the Divine Feminine Mysteries of Mary Magdalene, the Magdalene Order, and the profound wisdom of the Essenes. Explore St. Maximin or enjoy more private time at the Basilica before dinner in town.

On this sacred Summer Solstice morning, our journey reaches its culmination with the ascent to the grotto of Mary Magdalene in the Sainte-Baume mountains.

Gather at the base of the mountain for a session with Dana to continue your immersion in the Divine Feminine Mysteries of Mary Magdalene. Then, take a meditative, 40-minute walk up the mountain (not too steep) to her legendary cave, which has inspired generations of pilgrims. The path winds through a beautiful forest of ancient oak, maple, and beech trees.

Spend time inside the cave to accelerate your ascension in consciousness and anchor light for personal and planetary healing, with Magdalene as your guide. Enjoy a brasserie lunch at the base of the mountain with a view of the lofty grotto, then free time to meditate, explore the forest, or simply absorb the transcendent energy of this magnificent place.
